Our team is experienced in assisting executors and administrators to prepare an application for a grant of probate or grant of letters of administration.
We tailor our level of service, attending to the full range of administration tasks as required such as closing the deceased’s bank accounts, selling or transferring shares, calling in a refundable accommodation deposit or any superannuation payable to the estate, transferring property to a surviving owner or beneficiary under the will, dealing with foreign assets, or simply helping you to understand your responsibilities and duties as an executor or administrator of an estate and to prepare documentation.
We can also assist with more difficult applications for example, where the will has not been witnessed correctly, where there is no executor willing or able to act, where there is an error in the will (commonly with home-made wills), where the deceased’s name is incorrectly stated or an asset has been inaccurately described in the will or if the will has been damaged in some way.
We regularly administer complex estates (including where an independent administrator has been appointed by the court because the beneficiaries are in dispute with each other) and estates involving foreign assets and domicile issues. We can also assist with applications to reseal either interstate grants or foreign-issued grants.
We also have a Notary Public who can assist with the notarisation of documents which may be required for estates with overseas assets. We also help clients who have inherited assets overseas and need assistance to receive their inheritance.
