Alf Macolino | Partner
Alf has been a lawyer since 1978. He has wide experience in advising in relation to retirement village and aged care developments and administration, community housing, disability housing property development, commercial and business transactions, commercial leasing succession planning and deceased estates.
He is a long-standing member of the retirement living committees of the UDIA and ACSA. He is a former member of the Retirement Living Committee of the Property Council of Australia.
He was the founder and then the chair of the UDIA retirement living committee for over six years. He has presented numerous papers at state and national conferences on retirement living, affordable housing and property matters.
His expertise in these areas was recognised when he was listed in ‘Best Lawyers in Australia’ lists since 2012 for Retirement Villages and Seniors Living Law, and also since 2013 for Real Estate and Property Law. He was awarded Retirement Villages and Seniors Living Lawyer of the year in 2015. This recognition is only obtained because Alf’s peers in the legal profession recognised his expertise. In 2017 Alf was listed in the Doyle’s Guide to Australian lawyers for Property Law and as the Market Leader in South Australia in Health and Aged Care.
For over 10 years he has been the editor or the co-editor of The Last Testament, the newsletter of the Succession Law Committee of the Law Society of South Australia. He was for some years a consultant editor of the Retirement and Estate Planning Bulletin of Australia. He has presented numerous papers at conferences on succession law issues and written many articles for The Last Testament. He has organised successful succession law conferences in Italy and England in recent years.
Alf has been a lecturer in plain English and he is a member of Clarity, an international organisation dedicated to use of plain English in documents. Alf is well-known for his clarity in drafting complex legal documents.
Alf has an association with Fabio Panarese, a lawyer in Milan with Italian and Australian legal qualifications. Alf regularly organises assistance for Italian Australians with legal issues in Italy.
Alf is a Notary Public, and performs a wide range of notarial services.
